We want our volunteers to have the tools and training they need  to do their job safely and effectively.  We have three levels of training available to fit your interests and time commitment level.  Every volunteer is required to start with the orientation and level one video.

Level 1 – Blue

Go through orientation, tour the shelter and have one-on-one training with the volunteer coordinator.

Level 2 – Green

In addition to Level 1 training you will watch:

• Training Video 1: “People and Kennel Care” – Learn about the inner working of an animal shelter, how to work with animals, and how to properly clean a kennel.
• Training Video 2: “Animal Handling and Safety” – Learn to properly handle animals, learn body language and warning signs to prevent injury to animals and yourself.
• Training Video 4: “Dog and Cat Basics” – Fun facts about dogs and cats from puppyhood/kittenhood to adulthood.
• Training Video 5: “Canine Body Postures” – Learn to read canine behavior.
• Complete level 2 training packet.

• Level 3 - Red

  In addtion to Level 1 and 2 training you will watch:

• Training Video 3: “Animal Identification” – Learn to correctly identify breeds of dogs and cats.
• Training Video 6: “Evaluating Behavioral Health ” – Learn the basics of animal behaviors.
• Complete level 3 training packet.
