Many of you may remember Miss Bitsy as “The Growly Girl” in the front office. Well she has been walking through my mind for the last couple of days, so I called the rescue, in Puyallup WA, she was transferred to today. What I found was very emotional for me. When Miss Bitsy returned to the rescue she was taken to their vet for a checkup (this is standard procedure) and she had a picture taken. Someone posted the picture which someone else saw and then sent it to someone else. Well the last someone else ended up being the son of the original adopter of Miss Bitsy. He drove over two hours from a town in Oregon (not The Dalles) and readopted Miss Bitsy. She now has her true Forever home after her long journey. We love you Miss Bitsy and so glad you were a part of our family, and we wish you a wonderful walk with the family you deserve.
Charlie came into the shelter as a owner surrender with his brother Max. Max got adopted fast and shortly after Charlie found his fur-ever home too. Congratulations Charlie! We wish you all the best!
Last October Home At Last received a great donation to replace our old heat pump. This winter was a rough time with snow and ice which filled the new heat pump and we had to run on emergency heat in order for the heat pump to thaw out. This is where Derek V. comes into the picture. He signed up to volunteer and mentioned he was a carpenter and would like to offer his services to Home At Last. He looked at the heat pump, drew up a design , and built a wonderful cover for our new heat pump.
Hannah Roser and Madaket Greenleaf are at it again. They put together a fund raiser through their Make A Difference Class at Hood River Middle School for the Home At Last family. They were able to collect $123.00 for the “kids” . What a wonderful out-pouring of support from the youth of our wonderful community. We give a hugh heart felt THANK YOU to every one who contributed to the fund raiser!!! I understand their have more events in their plans.
